Debra Institute of Nursing Science, powered by S R Education & Research Foundation, is situated at Debra, Paschim Medinipur and started in the year 2023 with the GNM programme.

It is approved by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal; affiliated with the Indian Nursing Council and the West Bengal Nursing Council; and approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Debra Institute of Nursing Science is a constituent unit of S R Education & Research Foundation – a Govt. registered charitable trust, Haldia, Purba Medinipur.

Campus & Facilities

A multistoried campus at Debra with the labs, library and classrooms that the GNM course needs, and a hostel for students.

Anatomy & Physiology Lab 01 Anatomy & Physiology Lab Models, skeletons and charts for learning the human body. Nursing Foundation Lab 02 Nursing Foundation Lab Practise bedside care on manikins before clinical postings. Library 03 Library Nursing textbooks and reference books for every subject. Classrooms 04 Classrooms Spacious, well-lit classrooms for theory classes. Computer Lab 05 Computer Lab Computers for digital learning and assignments. Hostel 06 Hostel Hostel in the multistoried building, under the care of the Principal and the Home Sister.

How Admission Works

  1. Appear for the entrance examination

    Sit for the Joint Entrance Examination for ANM (R) and GNM conducted by WBJEEB.

  2. Qualify and obtain a rank

    Candidates must qualify and obtain a rank, as decided by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of West Bengal.

  3. Counselling on the WBJEEB portal

    Admission is made through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board online portal.

  4. Report to the institute

    Complete your admission at Debra Institute of Nursing Science with the required documents.

Who can apply for the GNM course at DINS?
Female candidates who have completed 17–35 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission, and who are permanent residents of West Bengal.
How do I get admission?
Appear for the Joint Entrance Examination for ANM (R) and GNM conducted by WBJEEB, obtain a rank, and choose Debra Institute of Nursing Science during counselling on the WBJEEB online portal.
How many seats are there?
The GNM course has 60 seats.
How long is the course?
Three years. Each year has 46 weeks (1656 hours) of classroom instruction and supervised clinical practice.
Is the course recognised?
Yes. The institute is approved by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, affiliated with the Indian Nursing Council and the West Bengal Nursing Council, and approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Is there a hostel?
Yes. The hostel is in the multistoried campus building and is under the direct control of the Principal, assisted by the Home Sister and the Hostel Committee.
Can I get a scholarship?
Students can apply for Government of West Bengal schemes such as SVMCM, Kanyashree, Aikyashree, OASIS, Nabanna and the Student Credit Card. See the Scholarships page for eligibility and links.
What is the fee?
Please call or WhatsApp the admission desk for the current fee structure for the session.
Does online registration on this website replace the WBJEEB application?
No. Registering here only lets our admission desk contact you. You must still apply for the entrance examination on the WBJEEB website.
